If you've been waiting for a sign to invest in one of Apple's sport watches, consider this it. While we wait for official Apple Watch Prime Day 2023 deals to drop (July 11 and 12 can't come soon enough!), there's a few noteworthy sales to shop before the savings event really kicks off. It's one of the best times of year to shop Apple devices, since the hot ticket items rarely see steep discounts, and right now, two of the latest Apple Watches are on sale for up to 43 percent off. The Series 8 and Series 7 are almost identical, so we're breaking down the biggest differences below.

The Apple Watch Series 8 is one of the latest wearable releases from Apple. The tech specs are as follows: a sleep, heart rate and blood oxygen monitor, an activity tracker and a brand new internal temperature sensor. The wearable has an impressive edge to edge screen where you can view health and workout stats, call and answer texts with your iPhone nearby and more. The smart watch is also IP6X certified dust-resistant and is swimproof up to 50 meters. The GPS model is seeing the deepest price cut at the moment, which means you'll need to keep your iPhone nearby to enjoy texts and calls from your wrist.

Now, the Series 7 does most everything the Series 8 does, sans a temperature sensor. The biggest difference between the two models featured here is the GPS versus Cellular connectivity. With a cellular-enabled Apple Watch, you can connect it to your data plan and send texts and take calls just like you would from your iPhone. Personally, I enjoy being able to leave my phone at home while on long runs since Bluetooth headphones will connect to your Apple Watch to access music streaming. If the temperature sensor doesn't make much of a difference to you but cellular function does, the Series 7 is a smarter buy than the on sale Series 8 (45mm, GPS+Cellular).

The Apple Watch Series 8 and Series 7 are the only models still on sale, because the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen) have already gone back up to regular price. We expect to see them back on sale come July 11, but take it from us—Prime Day Apple Watch deals come and go swiftly, so if you see one you like, strike while the iron is hot.
